Welcome to the C.O.M.A.R 8 Training Program!
Whether you are here for the first time or returning for your annual renewal, Once you enroll and pay, you will have 14 days to complete the course. Your start date is considered the date of payment.
For All Participants:
- Document the Training: Ensure to record the training date and specify whether it is your initial training or a renewal.
- Complete Core Lessons: Everyone must take the annual required C.O.M.A.R core lessons 1 through 4.
- Final Exam: After completing the core lessons, take final exam number 5.

A note about the optional section below: Maryland regulation COMAR 10.07.14.19 requires annual training in four subjects for assisted living staff – fire and life safety, infection control, basic food safety, and emergency disaster plans. The remaining four subjects (resident rights, use of service plans, health and psychosocial needs, and the resident assessment process) are one-time training requirements. However, some surveyors ask to see all eight subjects with current dates. If your surveyor requests this, complete the OPTIONAL section at the end of this course – passing its final exam issues a separate certificate for the additional four subjects. If not, your renewal is complete after the Staff Annual Training Final Exam.
